We were invited to design the visual identity for the organisation and from an early site visit to the building, that now houses CAST, we were drawn to its character and charm, and the importance of its history. The building is the former School of Science and Arts in Helston, Cornwall, given to the town by philanthropist, John Passmore Edwards. We wanted to reflect some of this in CAST’s new visual identity and designed a logotype extracted from the façade of the building. Drawing from the text formed on the front of the building, we designed the new logotype based on its characters. And colours were taken from the stone and granite of the building to reinforce this relationship – between the strategic positioning of CAST and the physical manifestation of the building.
