Their value proposition: To be the critical platform for visual arts in the south west and thereby support and celebrate the sector in the region and beyond. To reflect such a strong proposition we developed a confident typographic logo with which to represent the organisation. The logo is oriented, as if around a compass, to represent the south west and the ‘V’ and ‘A’, of visual and arts, are turned into arrows to illustrate a relationship focus of the future network. To help establish the organisation as a leader in the visual art sector and to reflect the dynamism of its intention, the core brand colour is a bright red – representing the creative, aspirational and celebratory aspects of the organisation. This is balanced with the authoritative side of the organisation, represented by a dark grey – used for the name marque (or logotype) on the website. In addition to this primary set, an extended colour palette adds to the creative dynamism of the visual identity and enables a breadth of creative applications across a range of materials.
The primary application of the brand is the website which includes all the usual suspects you'd come to expect – news, events listing, resources, Twitter and Facebook integration – but it also features the 'Art Map': A visually interactive means with which to search the sector, enabling people to find the organisations, studios, projects and events in the visual arts landscape of the south west.
