Although Locus+ was formally established in April 1993 it was preceded by the Basement Group, 1979-1984, the first office-based visual arts organisation in the UK and Projects UK, 1982-1992. The organisation is recognised as a key regional, national and international agency for the development of new initiatives in the realisation of visual art and cross-media projects.
We were commissioned by Locus+ to design and develop a bespoke content managed website. Focussing on the Locus+ archive, we developed a website that maximised the content for the benefit of their audience. The rich history of the archive enabled us the opportunity to provide visitors with a rich online resource – something quite unique to Locus+. We developed a dynamic database facility which, not only aided efficient updates and maintenance, but also provided visitors with a rich and dynamic way to navigate the content.
By building in a news archive, integrating a newsletter facility and incorporating Facebook, Twitter and You Tube, we made it easy for Locus+ to keep in touch with their audiences. By building and developing ongoing relationships, using their content as key information, we helped to provide an attractive and distinctive proposition that, not only strengthens, but broadens its reach to wider audiences. And in doing so have helped raise the profile of Locus+.
