Book design exploring the artistic journeys of ‘Making Modern Art Medals’ for the British Art Medal Society.
Book Design
Background
The British Art Medal Society acts as a forum for the ongoing discourse on the creative medium. It encourages and promotes the art of making medals through seminars, workshops, exhibitions and the commissioning of art medals.
Context
Making Modern Art Medals is a brief introduction to the skills of making modern art medals. It is related to those ‘rough guides’ for travel in that it is about exploration, giving you suggestions for directions that you might take on artistic journeys, and practical ideas on how to make them.
Sir Mark Jones FRSE
Design Creative
The ambition of the design is to illustrate how the British Art Medal Society is a leading authority on the art of making modern medals. By developing a guidebook to help navigate this artform, drawing on the skills and insights of contemporary practitioners, the book promotes and champions the practice, principles and philosophy of modern art medal making.
