Background
CAST is an educational charity that promotes participation, appreciation and learning in the visual arts and encourages interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration across the arts and sciences.
From an early site visit to the building that houses CAST we were drawn to its character and charm, and to the importance of its history. The building is the former School of Science and Arts in Helston, Cornwall and was gifted to the town by philanthropist John Passmore Edwards.
Brand Identity
We established a positioning statement for the organisation orientated around their ambition to engage, educate, promote and encourage.
We wanted to capture this vision and reflect some of the history of the building in the new visual identity. We designed a logotype inspired by the carved lettering on the façade of the building. Colours were taken from the stone and granite of the building to reinforce this relationship.
Positioning Statement
“The Cornubian Arts Science Trust, or CAST, exists to engage with audiences to educate in, promote and encourage public participation and enjoyment of the arts and sciences.”
