Box A

Box A is a book by artist Abigail Reynolds published on the occasion of the exhibition Box A: Accidents at Kestle Barton, on the Lizard Penninsula, in Cornwall.

We worked in close collaboration with Abigail to design the publication which contains images from the Guardian Archive, assembled into compositions that converge narratives.

The title ‘Box A’ refers to photographs sourced for the publication (and exhibition) from the Guardian Archive and found in Box ‘A’. The book responds to these images, categorised and grouped almost arbitrarily by the letter ‘A’, through interrelated meanings within the form and subject, interpreted by the artist.

We were involved throughout its conception and responded collaboratively with Abigail to the conceptual rigour of her practice and approach. Particular attention to the details of binding and use of materials aided a carefully considered representation of the work — of the relationships between the images as well as the texts.

Published as an artist book in a limited edition of 50.
